去年、2013年の7月12日に行われた、マララユスフザイさんの国連演説スピーチについて、英語の全文を日本語対訳つきでまとめました。

Respected elders and my dear brothers and sisters; assalamualaikum

尊敬すべき大人の方々,そして私の大切な少年少女のみなさんへ、アッサラーム・アライカム（あなたに平和あれ）。

Today, it is an honour for me to be speaking again after a long time. Being here with such honourable people is a great moment in my life.

今日、久しぶりにこうしてまたスピーチを行えてとても光栄です。このような尊敬すべき人たちと共にこのような場にいるなんて、私の人生においても、とてもすばらしい瞬間です。

I don’t know where to begin my speech. I don’t know what people would be expecting me to say. But first of all, thank you to God for whom we all are equal and thank you to every person who has prayed for my fast recovery and a new life.

どこからスピーチを始めたらいいでしょうか。みなさんが、私にどんなことを言ってほしいのかはわかりません。しかしまずはじめに、我々すべてを平等に扱ってくれる神に感謝します。そして、私の早い回復と新たな人生を祈ってくれたすべての人たちに感謝します。

I cannot believe how much love people have shown me. I have received thousands of good wish cards and gifts from all over the world. Thank you to all of them. Thank you to the children whose innocent words encouraged me. Thank you to my elders whose prayers strengthened me.

私は、みなさんが私に示してくれた愛の大きさに驚くばかりです。世界中から、温かい言葉に満ちた手紙と贈り物をもらいました。それらすべてに感謝します。純真な言葉で私を励ましてくれた子どもたちに感謝します。祈りで私を力づけてくれた大人たちに感謝します。

I would like to thank my nurses, doctors and all of the staff of the hospitals in Pakistan and the UK and the UAE government who have helped me get better and recover my strength.

私の傷を癒し、私に力を取り戻す手助けをしてくれたパキスタン、イギリス、アラブ首長国連邦の病院の看護師、医師、そして職員の方々に感謝します。

I fully support Mr Ban Ki-moon the Secretary-General in his Global Education First Initiative and the work of the UN Special Envoy Mr Gordon Brown. And I thank them both for the leadership they continue to give. They continue to inspire all of us to action.

国連事務総長パン・ギムン氏の世界教育推進活動と国連世界教育特使ゴードン・ブラウン氏と国連総会議長ブク・ジェレミック氏の活動を、私は全面的に支持します。みなさんのたゆまないリーダーシップに感謝します。みなさんはいつも、私たち全員が行動を起こすきっかけを与えてくれます。

Dear brothers and sisters, do remember one thing. Malala day is not my day. Today is the day of every woman, every boy and every girl who have raised their voice for their rights.

親愛なる少年少女のみなさんへ、つぎのことを決して忘れないでください。マララ・デーは私一人のためにある日ではありません。今日は、自分の権利のために声を上げる、すべての女性たち、すべての少年少女たちのためにある日なのです。

There are hundreds of Human rights activists and social workers who are not only speaking for human rights, but who are struggling to achieve their goals of education, peace and equality. Thousands of people have been killed by the terrorists and millions have been injured. I am just one of them.

何百人もの人権活動家、そしてソーシャルワーカーたちがいます。彼らは人権について訴えるだけではなく、教育、平和、そして平等という目標を達成するために闘っています。 何千もの人々がテロリストに命を奪われ、何百万もの人たちが傷つけられています。私もその1人です。
